SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING

This from Michelle Maschke mdmaschke at yahoo.com Secretary, SAR Alberta

Hello all, there is a package coming to all members of SAR Alberta in the mail with details for the November 4, 2006 Special General meeting of the membership. Please let me know in advance if you plan to attend, and if you want to have the lunch, before the deadline on October 25, 2006.

We require quorum for voting purposes for this meeting, and I need confirmation of attendance.

The luncheon is offered for $10.00 per person which you can pay when you arrive.

Meeting location is Olds at Sandy's Restaurant, 5602 46 Street, Olds, Alberta, (403) 556-6650
This change in meeting venue is due to booking difficulties in Red Deer with Christmas parties, room fees, etc.

- as a reminder, the following was posted last month. -

. . . the Search and Rescue Association of Alberta round table meeting is coming up on Nov 4, 2006 in Red Deer. The groups need to watch for the package coming registered mail to each and every one of them.

There is a bylaw change request that we will need the membership to vote on at this meeting. Groups will need to sign for this package at the local post office. It is time sensitive material, so it must get to the appropriate persons on the teams for consideration and voting purposes. There will be further information in the package regarding the agenda and other activities of the meeting.

See the SAR Alberta website for more information, updates and details.

TOPOGRAPHIC MAPS

Brett Wuth wuth at castrov.cuug.ab.ca wuth at acm.org sends the following:-

The federal government has reversed a plan to stop producing the paper
topographic maps that we often use in Search and Rescue. It was
realized that the planned replacement - computer files might not be
useable in many places where you might like to read a map, such as in
the the bush.
