SAR Day Event Recommendation

Not sure what you mean here - is it our recommendation or someone
else's?
(Please remember that ! a SAR day event is intended to promote SAR in
your communities as well as this province. We need to have events that
provide education in preventative SAR programs, and raise public
awareness to what our organization does and is capable of doing.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Event Overview
The event will include a 5 talks (see below), a dog demonstration by
SARDA, a GPS navigation/orienteering activity by Paul Olmsted with EPS,
and a water rescue demonstration by Parks Canada wardens. We also
expect that there may be poster/table displays on site by the various
SAR groups. All events will be based out of the Astotin Theatre at the
recreation area in Elk Island National Park. Normal park entrance fees
apply. The event will be open to the public, park staff and SAR
organizations.

Talks:
Alzheimer's - Arlene Huhn, Alzheimer Society
Hurricane Katrina - Edmonton Regional SAR - Daryl Black
Airborne SAR - Civil Air Search and Rescue Association - David Doyle
Crystal Meth - RCMP - Cst. Helen Menzinger
Lost in the Woods - EINP Assistant Chief Park Warden - Murray Heap

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Event Outcomes
We hope to provide a quality visitor experience to the public and SAR
organizations that increases an understanding an appreciation of SAR.
The event also is designed to highlight the partnerships of various SAR
organizations in this area of Alberta.
