Hi everyone,

Sorry for the late reply...I promised this information to all of the member groups as of Dec 15, 2007.

As of the Dec 14, 2007 (and today as well) I have received only ONE expression of interest for SAR Alberta Provincial Training Coordinator (TC) - from Ric Henderson of Red Deer SAR. This information is forwarded to you in the interests of transparency. Although there was only one expression of interest received, I still feel it was worthwhile to ensure that the appointment is done in an open and transparent way. Thank you to everyone for your patience.

As planned, the SAR Alberta Executive will be considering this application and making an announcement shortly as to the appointment of the SAR Alberta Provincial Training Coordinator at which time my term as SAR Alberta Interim Provincial Training Coordinator will end.

I will be meeting with the newly appointed TC and ensuring that all of the information that I have received from the groups regarding the training grant requests have been passed on.

I look forward to working with the new TC and the member groups as part of the provincial training committee. We have a lot of work ahead of us!

Call for Candidates for Provincial Training Coordinator - Deadline December 14, 2007

The SAR Alberta Board is seeking expressions of interest for the position of Provincial Training Coordinator until the 2008 SAR Alberta AGM. It is anticipated that the term will be extended for at least one year after that and those interested should be intending to fulfill the role beyond the 2008 AGM. The Provincial Training Coordinator performs various functions (and this may change as the relationship between AEMA and SAR Alberta develops) including leading a committee of volunteers to:
Further the capability of the groups to access and deliver search and rescue training to their members
Liaise with AEMA on matters related to lead ministry training requirements (accessing funds, training requirements and due diligence, develop procedures, etc)
Provide advice and support to groups in obtaining and fulfilling provincial training grants
Liaise with other SAR Alberta committees as required (i.e. Standards)
Communicate to the SAR Alberta Executive, Board on training matters that may impact SAR Alberta
If you are interested in fulfilling this role, please submit the following (point form OK) to Cindy Heselton sarasouthcentraldirector at yahoo.ca by December 14, 2007 (NO EXCEPTIONS):
Full name
Contact information (email, phone number, address)
Accessibility (i.e. how best can people contact you, during what times) in the context of fulfilling the role
Experience with training management in search and rescue
SAR training grant experience
Potential conflicts of interest (perceived or real)
Ability to commit to the position beyond the 2008 AGM
This information will be made available to the membership and the SAR Alberta Board on December 15, 2007. The SAR Alberta Executive will make the final appointment by Dec 20, 2007. FYI – I am not planning to submit my name for this position but do plan to remain active in training management for SAR Alberta.
