Good morning...

Over and over again, we have been hearing that the number one issue of =
concern for board members and organizational staff lies in recruiting =
new people to their boards. This situation has not improved as the =
Alberta labour market also continues to experience shortages of =
qualified people in many sectors.=20

Ideally, boards would like to attract a diverse mix of participants who =
contribute a variety of skills, perspectives and experiences to the =
organization. As well, they require sufficient numbers of people to =
meet the ongoing obligations and functions of the board. Through a =
recent survey, we learn that groups are being challenged on both those =
fronts. Less than 23% of organizations state that they are able to =
consistently attract both the quantity and variety of board member =
volunteers they would like.

On October 16th, guest facilitator Dianne King brings inspiration, =
humour, practical tools and strategies to support the development of an =
effective Board Recruitment plan for Southern Alberta organizations. Her =
workshop will include an examination of reasons people volunteer, =
evaluation of the existing board and future needs, board member =
orientation tips and the role of a board in providing training and =
support to new board members. Dianne was trained as a Certified =
Instructor under the Alberta Provincial Board Development Program and =
has completed hundreds of hours of consultation and facilitation with =
organizations across Alberta. She has also served on boards in many =
capacities over the past 35 years.

Previous participants have offered evaluations such as:
"Dianne is very informative. She helps me look at a more effective =
approach to governance..."
"I enjoyed the workshop; it flowed logically & Dianne was flexible =
towards the audience..."
"As a relatively new board member, this session was an incredibly =
valuable source of information for me to move forward to become a more =
proactive and involved member. Thank you Dianne..."

In order to allow as many people as possible to benefit from Dianne's =
presentation, I am offering a discount for multiple registrations from =
the same organization. As well, Dianne is available for a limited number =
of dates this fall to provide a half-day dedicated session on board =
recruitment specifically for your organization. Please call or email to =
find out more.
