members are also made aware of the insurance issue. If you are a registered
society you are considered a separate legal entity – therefore your
organization can be held liable for the decisions it makes (or doesn’t
make in the case of Golden SAR). Also, in BC there is coverage for
liability for individual searchers – that means if an individual searcher
is involved in an incident where there is a lawsuit the BC government’s
insurance will kick in to support that individual. <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:State
w:st="on">Alberta</st1:State></st1:place> has no insurance of that kind –
teams need to check whether your insurance covers both the society and the
individual members.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
