[SARA-Members] RCMP National Champion

Hi Everyone,

 

For many years now the Search and Rescue Volunteer Association of Canada -
SARVAC, has been looking for a national champion or advocate for ground
search and rescue in Ottawa. In 2007 the Ground SAR Council - which
represents the provinces and territories on SAR issues met and decided to
pursue an opportunity to have the RCMP become this champion - they have been
working with SARVAC on this.

 

Over the course of last sessions were held with various organizations to
determine what this championship role would look like and how it would be
implemented. One such session was held in November with SARVAC. Rodney
Dietrich from the SAR Alberta board attended this meeting.

 

Attached is the report outlining some of the outcomes of this meeting - it
gives a good indication of what the issues are about - what some of the
challenges are and the reasons for going forward. 

 

I will also be sending out a short document on SARVAC - to up-date those who
may not know what this organization is all about.
