[SARA-Members] Golden Search and Rescue suspends services amidlegal liability concerns

Hello All

 Protection of volunteers was one of the key points brought up at the
planning session. I believe that this is something that the AEMA should
be all over as priority one, if not that just goes to show us where we
stand at the AEMA. As a volunteer and as president of the Sundre team I
want a written, signed paper that we are covered because I am not
willing to put myself or members of SVSAR in a position to get sued
doing the government a favor. It would be a very hard decision not to go
out on a search, because that is what we train to do, BUT the protection
of the volunteer must come first.

Hi everyone,

More teams in BC are looking to follow by withdrawing their services.
This
raises a serious concern in Alberta as there are a number of teams that
have
no insurance at all. It is an issue SAR Alberta will be addressing to
the
government.
