[SARA-Members] SAR Alberta - Golden SAR and Insurance issue

To all teams,

 

Please read the above attachment and make sure that all your members are
also made aware of the insurance issue. If you are a registered society you
are considered a separate legal entity - therefore your organization can be
held liable for the decisions it makes (or doesn't make in the case of
Golden SAR).  Also, in BC there is coverage for liability for individual
searchers - that means if an individual searcher is involved in an incident
where there is a lawsuit the BC government's insurance will kick in to
support that individual. Alberta has no insurance of that kind - teams need
to check whether your insurance covers both the society and the individual
members.

 

 

Colin Lloyd from AEMA has asked to meet with myself and Don Drebert on June
24, I will also be meeting with himself and David Hodgins on June 26th.
