ALBERTA SEARCH AND RESCUE DAY
Alberta recognizes search and rescue volunteers.
Edmonton... Each year, hundreds of Albertans put their lives at risk to save others through volunteer work with search and rescue teams throughout the province. Last year, about 1,200 volunteers gave their time to respond to the more than 250 search and rescue incidents that occurred in Alberta.
"During last year's floods, we saw how the skill and dedication of search and rescue personnel can save lives. Search and Rescue Day provides us with an opportunity to recognize the efforts of those committed to this critical work," said Rob Renner, Minister of Municipal Affairs, who is also responsible for Emergency Management Alberta.
Also about SAR Day, Michelle sent this link to a mock exercise slideshow. You can see the slideshow at www.photoshow.net/gl
